CIP Inspector:
Salary ($62,090.60 - $74,966.58)JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Incumbents perform inspections of multiple construction projects as a part of the Town's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Department.Duties include:
Performing site/field inspections for capital improvement projects, record keeping, review plans and specifications for CIP projects; and assist project management teams in preparing reports, budgets, project close-outs and final reports.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a fully qualified level construction inspection classification in the construction management job family where tasks and assignments are performed using a variety of procedures and techniques. This is the experienced/journey level that is fully competent in the technical/functional aspects of assigned role. Work usually involves the application of sound technical principles and best practices associated with planning, diagnosis, troubleshooting and problem solving. Incumbents perform varied assignments requiring journey level knowledge in assigned area of responsibility. A CIP Inspector is distinguished from a CIP Senior Inspector by the complexity and scale of the construction projects that are assigned and by the number of years of experience needed in order to successfully perform assigned construction and engineering inspections.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town's needs. Performs inspections on Town CIP projects to ensure compliance with the approved plans and specifications. Project types vary and may include roadways, bridges, culverts, storm drain, water/sewer mains, utility service connection, parks, public safety facilities and water treatment facilities. Inspects and observes construction material and methods to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and construction details. Computes and reviews monthly pay applications and works with the contractors to finalize and agree to work completed and to be paid. Communicates with supervisors, employees, other departments, developers, contractors, engineers, surveyors, utility companies, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give and/or receive advice and/or direction. Attends project meetings during construction of infrastructure; solves problems and conflicts relating to construction problems. Coordinates and monitors materials testing and maintains filing for project testing. Reviews test results and if needed enforces corrective actions for failing materials. Prepares daily reports for each assigned project, documenting workforce on-site, work performed, communications with the contractor and any direction given or issues identified. Reviews any and all request for change orders and prepares any documentation required to justify or deny each request. Performs related work as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(at job entry) Education and Experience Associate's Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field and two years of experience performing a variety of construction and engineering inspection; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents perform inspections of multiple large, complex construction projects as a part of the Town's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Department.Duties include:

This position may require you to work outside of normal operating hours including but not limited to, weekends, night and holidays as needed.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a lead level construction inspection classification in the construction management job family that requires advanced technical knowledge and skill in the technical/functional aspects of assigned role.
