Miamisburg, OH Job Details Full-time $80,391.12 - $102,860.54 a year 22 hours ago Qualifications Stakeholder relationship building Full Job Description The City Planner reports directly to the Development Director and performs a variety of routine as well as complex administrative, technical and professional work. The City Planner is a full-time, on-site role located in Miamisburg, OH, focused on managing urban planning and development projects. Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing zoning regulations, evaluating land use proposals, conducting impactful community engagement, and preparing comprehensive planning reports for Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning Commission, and City Council review. The role involves collaboration with city officials, residents, various boards and commissions, and stakeholders to ensure sustainable development and compliance with city plans and policies. The City Planner will also analyze socio-economic data to guide future growth and participate in strategic decision-making processes. Other duties as assigned may include GIS mapping and analysis, targeted code enforcement, site development inspections, floodplain administration, and grant writing. Compensation & Benefits The 2026 annual salary range for this position is $80,391.12 to $102,860.54, commiserate with experience, education and qualifications with one of the best benefit packages in the region. Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Land-Use or City/Urban Planning, Community Development, or related field. At least three years of progressively responsible experience in city or regional planning. AICP certification and public sector experience are preferred Experience or education in one of more of the following areas: grant writing, neighborhood enhancement, social service, housing, historic preservation, economics, public relations, communications, marketing, design, journalism, planning, business administration, public administration, retailing, volunteer or nonprofit administration. Ability to work independently in GIS Experience in Capital and Operating budget development and management. A combination of education, experience and training may be applied in accordance with the City of Miamisburg policy. Additional Preferred Qualifications Operational knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suite software, design software, social media platforms, and website management or design. Be sensitive to design and preservation issues and understand the issues confronting downtown businesses, property owners, public agencies and community organizations. Be able to communicate with and problem solve with downtown businesses, property owners, residents, public agencies, and community organizations in a manner that is both effective and encourages a continued positive working relationship. Understand the interplay amongst internal and external factors, politics, markets, etc. in planning. Be energetic, imaginative, motivated, well-organized and capable of functioning independently with minimal day -to -day supervision or direction. Strong organizational, interpersonal and conflict management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The City of Miamisburg, Ohio is home to just over 20,000 people.
