AutoCAD LT Civil Engineering Full Job Description About Us:

G&G Structures, Inc. is a boutique engineering firm of 9 dedicated professionals specializing in high-end residential and complex hillside developments. We are looking for a technically minded Drafter/Designer who wants to master the art of civil site design. You will work side-by-side with our Principal, Lionel Garcia, S.E., gaining a deep understanding of grading, drainage, and utility infrastructure in the unique Southern California landscape.

The Job:

We need a detail-oriented individual to translate engineering concepts into precise construction documents. While we will mentor and train you on drafting standards and engineering principles, you must have a strong technical command of CAD and a desire to produce high-quality, accurate drawing sets. In this role, you will perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations based on your technical knowledge. Additionally, to ensure team-wide balance and professional growth, structural design tasks may be assigned based on workload demands and project needs. ■

What You'll Do:

Drafting & Production:

Create and modify civil drawings using AutoCAD based on sketches, marked-up PDFs, and verbal instructions.

Grading & Drainage:

Develop plans to indicate grade elevations and drainage patterns.

Earthwork Analysis:

Develop earthwork diagrams to calculate and show cut/fill quantities.

Surface Mapping:

Develop drainage tributary diagrams identifying pervious and impervious surfaces.

Compliance:

Create Temporary Erosion Control drawings (SWPPP support).

Quality Control:

Ensure projects remain on schedule and meet firm-wide quality assurance standards. ■

What We're Looking For:

Education:

Degree in Civil Engineering, or Certificate in Civil Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Software:

Strong command of AutoCAD 2D is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam).

Technical Ability:

Ability to perform simple area and volume calculations and interpret architectural, civil, and topography drawings.

Aptitude:

A solid understanding of standard drafting practices and a high level of attention to detail.
