Civil Engineering Technician Location:
Western Wisconsin /
Twin Cities East Metro Industry:
Civil Engineering & Land Development Consulting A growing civil engineering consulting firm is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to support the design and execution of a wide range of infrastructure and land development projects. This role works directly with Project Managers and Engineers to develop construction plans, coordinate technical details, and assist with project documentation from concept through construction. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of projects including municipal infrastructure, roadway design, site development, stormwater systems, grading plans, and utility layouts . The technician will play a key role in turning engineering concepts into accurate construction documents while supporting field observations and project coordination. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed civil construction plans and technical drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D Assist engineers and project managers with plan development, revisions, and construction documentation Produce drawings related to site grading, erosion control, stormwater management, roadways, and underground utilities Interpret engineering sketches, field data, and survey information to develop accurate design layouts Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project requirements Support project teams with quantity calculations, plan updates, and technical documentation Conduct site observations and field visits to verify construction progress and ensure plans are followed Coordinate with internal staff to maintain project schedules and deliverables Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Qualifications Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field , or equivalent practical experience Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability for work quality Self-directed, reliable, and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment Willingness to occasionally assist with field observations and project site visits Work Environment This role combines office-based design work with occasional field exposure , giving technicians the opportunity to see projects progress from early design through construction. The team operates in a collaborative environment where technicians are encouraged to expand their skills and take on increasing responsibility as their experience grows.
