Class A or Class B Diesel Mechanic 307 Fairfield Road, Montoursville, PA 17754 $31.75 - $33.65 an hour - Full-time $31.75 - $33.65 an hour - Full-time Class B or Class A Diesel Mechanic Job Description Centre Concrete is hiring a Class B or Class A Diesel Mechanic to work in its Montoursville, PA garage servicing heavy equipment such as ready mixed concrete trucks, front-end loaders, tractor trailers and its ready mixed concrete facility. The candidate will be able to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain the fleet of vehicles in a fast-paced environment while working with a senior mechanics. Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment is a must and complying with company policies, safety rules and meeting all regulations for vehicles to be road worthy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, replace and modify components associated with ready-mixed concrete trucks including brake systems, clutches, steering assemblies, hydraulic lines, water and air lines, and mixing equipment. Perform routine servicing, lubricating, and greasing of vehicles. Perform electronic diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems; repair and replace faulty components including wiring. Maintain an inventory of fluids, parts, and equipment, and perform some physical plant maintenance. Remove and mount tires and maintain the tire inventory. Communicating with the fleet manager, other mechanics, and plant managers on a daily basis to ensure the most up-to-date information is being conveyed to enable proper scheduling of trucks to service the customer base. Assist shop personnel as needed to complete tasks to keep the equipment operational.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent. CDL Class B or Class A Experience in equipment maintenance. Mechanical background with a basic knowledge of equipment. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and maintain balance for extensive periods of time. The ability to frequently lift up to 60 lbs from floor to above the shoulder and horizontally, and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs, though various pieces of equipment are available to assist. Ability to perform repetitive tasks; stretch, turn, twist, and reach overhead; bend, crouch, squat, kneel and stoop for extensive periods of time.
