Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Clay Elementary School as an Instructional Assistant I. This full-time position is designed for someone who is passionate about supporting the educational development of young learners. The Instructional Assistant I will work closely with teachers to provide a positive classroom environment, assist with instructional activities, and support the diverse needs of students. Responsibilities Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to enhance their understanding of the curriculum. Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and participation. Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and support as needed. Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources, ensuring they are organized and accessible. Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Participate in professional development opportunities and collaborate with staff to improve instructional practices. Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student progress and needs. Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations as directed by the teacher. Perform other related duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration. Requirements 42 College hours or passing of the paraeducator exam. Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the classroom teacher. Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the academic and social development of students. Basic knowledge of educational practices and child development principles. Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support learning. Must pass background checks and any required training or certifications as mandated by the school district.
