Job Description
Camp Watitoh, a premier co-ed sleep-away camp in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, seeks a skilled climbing instructor to join our Adventure team for summer 2026. This is an ideal position for climbing and outdoor enthusiasts looking to spend their summer in an outdoor environment with easy access to high-level climbing spots in the New England area. Our adventure program operates a rock wall, challenge course, vertical playpen, high ropes course, zip line, giant swing, and low ropes elements. This position is a "specialist" at camp, and is an in-cabin position. Specialists at Camp Watitoh play a key role in creating fun and engaging experiences for campers, whose typical day revolves around running sessions for campers at their specific program area. Specialists start and end their day with the campers in their cabin, but during program time, they lead activities in their program area. This dynamic leads to not only building a relationship with the campers in their own bunk, but gives specialists the opportunity to get to know each and every camper throughout the summer. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in working with children, coaching or teaching, or those seeking internship opportunities in their field. Specialists are responsible for the preparation of age specific lesson plans for their program area, engaging campers and staff during their sessions, maintaining their program area's equipment, and communicating needs of their program area
- such as new equipment or maintenance needs
- to their program area supervisor.
