POSITION SUMMARY
Position is dependent on current Education and Experience Level. Duties dependent onLevel:
Assist provider with examinations and/or treatments and provide instructions to patients as requested by the provider.- Take vital signs, enter the reason for the visit into the EMR system, and provide telephone triage to patients requesting services as needed according to policy.
- Complete patient history information during medical visits.
- Perform routine office procedures such as tympanograms, suture/staple removal, ambulatory oxygen assessments, dipstick urinalysis, pregnancy tests, rapid strep tests, etc.
- Provide patient care activities within the scope of certification/license such as wound care (cleaning, dressing, etc.).
- Assist provider with patient requests for medication refills.
- May assist the provider with minor surgical procedures including mole removals, joint injections, lacerations, and Nexplanon placement.
- Utilize appropriate sterile technique when applicable.
- May observe patients for adverse medication reactions after administration.
- Complete orders in the chart at the request of the provider.
- Relay results of certain diagnostic tests to patients when indicated by the provider.
- Obtain referral appointments from outside physicians.
- Obtain prior authorizations or provide information to the prior authorization nurse to secure insurance approval for procedures; transmit all prescriptions to appropriate pharmacies by 5:00 pm each day.
- Manage communications from the Long-Term Care Center and Alzheimer's Unit, ensuring timely responses; communicate provider availability to LTC and Alzheimer's Unit nurses as appropriate.
- Assist in maintenance of patient charts, documentation of phone calls, and general office activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and supplies in examination rooms; request supplies to maintain adequate stock and transport soiled linen to the Laundry Department as needed.
- Handle clinic activities such as inventory control, test analysis, data input, patient education, and research project activities, ensuring completion.
- Dispose of biohazard waste as needed.
- Attend meetings and in-service sessions as directed.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other assigned duties as requested by the practice manager or provider.
- May be requested to assume higher-level back office responsibilities in the absence of the practice manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Level 1 Required Education and Experience Certified Nurse Assistant, Colorado licensed, with minimum 2 years direct patient care experience, Licensed Practical Nurse, Colorado licensed, or Certified Medical Assistant. Current CPR certification. Preferred Education and Experience Must have the ability to actively utilize the nursing process with all patients in clinic setting or over the phone Level 2 Required Education Must have a valid current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse with 6 months experience, or certified Medical Assistant with 6 months experience, or Registered Nurse. Must be able to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively with teams and leadership while demonstrating a high level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail. This role requires professionalism in all interactions with employees, patients, and the public, along with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all SECHD, state, and federal policies and regulations. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems are required. Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations is preferred.
