Job Description
Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Contract An experienced Clinical Pharmacist is needed for a contract assignment based in New Castle, CO, starting ASAP with a projected duration through mid-August 2026 or longer. This role requires working 40 hours per week on a rotating day/evening schedule, with shifts beginning either at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM Monday through Friday, plus rotating weekends from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The assignment supports a facility transitioning from Meditech to Epic; therefore, EPIC experience is mandatory, and Meditech training is considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense medication orders in accordance with physician requests. Maintain medication inventory in patient care areas, ensuring safety and cost-effective therapies. Interpret medication orders and sustain computerized patient medication profiles. Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding controlled substance handling and documentation. Monitor patient drug therapy for interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosing. Perform pharmacokinetic dosing and review culture and sensitivity data to guide antibiotic use. Detect and report adverse drug reactions promptly. Promote formulary compliance and suggest cost-effective therapeutic alternatives. Provide clinical consultation to medical staff and deliver drug information to patients and families. Document clinical activities thoroughly and participate in quality improvement and medication review processes. Serve as a member of the Code Response Team. Participate in education and training programs for healthcare staff as needed.Qualifications:
Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing. Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association. Flu vaccination required with no exemptions accepted from October 1 through April 1. Must have EPIC experience; Meditech knowledge highly valued. This contract opportunity offers valuable experience in a dynamic hospital setting during an EMR transition.
