Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Site Manager, performs healthcare duties within the of the law of the state of Iowa and within applicable scope of practice. This is a 36-hour per week (3-12-hour days;
Wed-Thur-Fri:
7a-7p) position. Essential Functions /
Duties:
Obtains medical and/or social history and all vital signs and measurements as directed and document them appropriately. All data pertinent to patient care in the electronic health record (EHR). Prepares the patient and exam room for procedures and assists the providers with examination of patients. Obtains, labels, and prepares specimens for processing as directed. Performs point of care testing, documents within the EHR, and informs provider of the results. Administers treatments, immunizations and medications correctly as directed and documents accurately and timely at point of care. Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in examination rooms. Maintains equipment and supplies including those in the emergency kit: cleans and sterilizes all instruments. Performs lab tests and is responsible for running controls and record keeping. Accurately and completely obtain appropriate releases of information/consents. Receives and returns patient communication (inbox, phone, MyChart, etc.) in a timely manner and in accordance with
CHC/SEIA
policy. Schedules appointments and assists in rescheduling appointments. Assists coworkers in patient care or other tasks to maintain an even flow of patients and paperwork and proactively seeks out opportunities to help others when not busy and functions as a productive team member. Other duties as assigned
Education:
Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nursing training program
Experience:
Two (2) years of medical experience or similar experience, preferred
Licensure:
Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA, NHA, NCCT), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), active in State of Iowa If not currently licensed or certified, must obtain within six (6) months of hire.
