POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct, compassionate care to residents by assisting with daily living activities and supporting their comfort, safety, and dignity. Working under the direction of licensed nursing staff, the CNA plays a vital role in monitoring resident needs, responding promptly to requests, and promoting a respectful, supportive environment. This position is essential to delivering quality care and enhancing the daily lives of residents in alignment with the mission and values of Baptist Village Communities.JOB DUTIES
: Assist residents with bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, hair care, nail care, and applying makeup as needed. Assist residents with dressing appropriately, encouraging clothing suitable for the season. Make resident beds, change linens, and maintain cleanliness and organization of resident rooms and closets. Assist ill or dependent residents with meal service. Answer call lights promptly and interact with residents courteously and respectfully. Assist residents with toileting needs, including bedpans, urinals, bedside commodes, or escorting to the bathroom as directed. Measure and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; report abnormal findings to the charge nurse. Measure and document intake and output as ordered. Empty and measure urine from catheters or collection devices near the end of shift and report findings to the charge nurse. Observe and report unusual color or odor of urine, stool, sputum, or drainage prior to disposal. Record bowel movements, voiding, and emesis on daily assignment sheets and immediately report abnormal findings. Assist with specimen collection and perform diabetic urine testing as directed. Follow safety and infection control procedures, including use of gait belts and adherence to no-lift policies during transfers and repositioning. Maintain resident dignity by ensuring privacy and treating each resident with respect at all times. Use direct observation as needed to ensure resident safety. Ensure call lights, water, and personal items are within resident reach. Demonstrate empathy and understanding toward residents, families, and visitors. Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges. Perform additional duties as requested by residents or supervisors to support quality care and daily operations. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program. Current CPR/First Aid certification Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a senior living community. Physical Working Requirements Ability to travel using personal vehicle, including at night. Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to meet the position requirements. Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, lift or move up to 25 pounds at a time, turn and walk. Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
