Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Lead Machinist to oversee and execute precision machining operations within our manufacturing facility. This pivotal role involves leading a team of machinists, programming CNC machines, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of CNC machining processes, blueprint reading, and mechanical systems, contributing significantly to our production goals. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the CNC machining team to ensure production schedules are met with precision and quality standards. Develop, review, and optimize CNC programs Interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings, applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to achieve accurate manufacturing. Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC lathes, utilizing tooling, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling wear, or machine malfunctions. Ensure adherence to safety protocols by properly handling power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other machinery. Implement lean manufacturing practices to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining high-quality output. Conduct inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances; document inspection results accurately. Experience Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or Lead in a manufacturing environment with a strong understanding of CNC programming. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical principles related to machining. Hands-on experience with CNC lathes Skilled in using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately while applying basic math skills for measurements and calculations. Knowledge of safety procedures related to welding, power tools usage, tooling handling, and forklift operation. Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to train team members effectively while fostering a safe working environment.
