7% differential for 2nd Shift Job Description Advex Corporation is seeking CNC Machinists to support machining operations for U.S. Navy and marine defense programs. This role is well suited for candidates looking to develop and expand their machining skills in a professional job shop environment with modern equipment and experienced mentorship. Advex is currently installing a new suite of Okuma 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling machines . Depending on shift preference and demonstrated capability, machinists may be assigned to any of 11 machines , ranging from small enclosed vertical CNC mills and wire EDM equipment to large open-architecture bridge mills and horizontal boring mills. This position supports low-volume, high-complexity machining , providing exposure to a wide range of machining processes, part sizes, and equipment platforms. Equipment & Work Centers Machine assignment will be based on training progression, demonstrated capability, and shift placement and may include: Okuma 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling centers Small enclosed vertical CNC mills Wire EDM machines Large open-architecture bridge mills Horizontal boring mills Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC milling machines Perform part setups using fixtures and tooling Select, install, and adjust cutting tools Interpret CNC programs and perform minor manual edits as required Read and interpret engineering drawings using GD&T Perform in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met Work collaboratively across multiple work centers in a job shop environment Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity Required Qualifications Basic CNC machining knowledge or related technical training Ability to follow work instructions and machining procedures Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow technical skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Preferred Qualifications Exposure to CNC milling or machining environments Experience with Okuma CNC machines Interest in 4-axis or 5-axis machining Interest in learning multiple machine types Shift & Scheduling Details Openings on both 1st and 2nd shift 2nd shift will train on 1st shift prior to transition 7% shift differential applies to 2nd shift Employment Eligibility Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirements No felony convictions for Theft/Deception or Violent Crimes within the past 7 years No felony Drug convictions within the past 3 years Ability to pass background check and drug screening Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for 8-10 hours Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment with varying temperatures and noise levels Frequent handling of tools, components, and machined metal parts What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience and technical skill set
Work Schedule:
