Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC milling machines and lathes using MAZAK, HAAS, and FANUC controls to produce precision components for a variety of industries, including aerospace and medical. You will read and interpret blueprints, work to very tight tolerances, and ensure that all parts meet strict quality standards in a clean, well-organized shop with modern equipment. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and setup parameters. Use a variety of measuring instruments, such as micrometers and other precision tools, to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet tight tolerances (± thousandths of an inch). Run both CNC mills and lathes efficiently while monitoring operations and making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity. Troubleshoot CNC machinery and processes to identify and resolve issues that affect part quality, machine performance, or cycle times. Perform regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery to keep equipment in optimal working condition. Conduct basic quality inspection of finished parts to confirm they meet customer and internal specifications. Participate in team meetings to understand production priorities, schedule changes, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with team members in a supportive environment to meet production goals and maintain consistent quality standards. Essential Skills Minimum of 2+ years of experience running and setting up CNC mills. Proven experience running CNC equipment to very tight tolerances (± thousandths of an inch). Hands-on experience with CNC milling and lathe operations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. Proficiency using micrometers and other precision measuring instruments for quality verification. Experience troubleshooting CNC machinery and resolving operational issues. Familiarity with MAZAK controls. Familiarity with HAAS controls. Familiarity with FANUC controls. Experience with CNC milling setup. Experience with CNC lathe setup. Experience performing quality inspection on machined components. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Comfort working in a fast-paced, multi-industry job shop supporting aerospace and medical applications. The shop supports a mix of industries, including aerospace and medical, providing exposure to a variety of parts and materials in a structured, professional environment.
