CNC Machinist -
Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Job Location:
Columbus, Mississippi Base salary: $45,000-$85,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Full Benefits Full-Time | Onsite Join a Growing Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Team We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join a leading aerospace & defense manufacturing organization in Columbus, MS. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who takes pride in precision work, problem-solving, and producing mission-critical aerospace components in a high-performance manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating CNC milling equipment, interpreting technical drawings, and working within tight-tolerance manufacturing environments. Experience with large bed milling machines, robotic CNC systems, or aerospace-grade materials is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain large bed CNC milling machines and robotic CNC equipment to manufacture high-precision aerospace and defense components Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and CAD/CAM files Perform machine setups, tooling adjustments, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency Conduct first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments including: Micrometers Calipers Height gauges Indicators Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining or dimensional issues Assist with CNC program edits, G-code adjustments, and CAM optimization when applicable Maintain strict adherence to aerospace manufacturing standards, safety procedures, and quality requirements Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment Experience operating large bed CNC milling machines strongly preferred Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience highly preferred Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading Experience machining aerospace-grade metals and composite materials Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas CNC controls CNC programming or CAM software experience is a plus Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Education & Certifications High school diploma or GED required CNC machining program, trade school, or apprenticeship preferred NIMS, HAAS, or related machining certifications are a plus Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods (10+ hour shifts) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual dexterity required Ability to wear PPE including: Safety glasses Steel-toe boots Hearing protection Why Join Us?
