Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description Join a skilled machining team where you operate and monitor CNC equipment to produce high-quality parts, primarily on repeat jobs. You work with minimal supervision once machines are running, focusing on accuracy, efficiency, and consistent output in a clean, well-organized shop environment. Responsibilities Operate CNC machines, including vertical and horizontal equipment, to produce parts according to specifications. Run mostly repeat jobs and maintain consistent quality throughout production runs. Set up CNC machines when required, including loading tools, setting offsets, and preparing fixtures and workpieces. Monitor machines while they are running and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to determine machining requirements and verify part specifications. Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools to inspect parts and ensure they meet tolerances. Work with 4-axis mills or lathes, ensuring proper operation and adherence to process requirements. Operate CNC machines using Fanuc, Mazak, and Haas controls, entering and adjusting programs as needed within established parameters. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, following shop procedures and standard operating practices. Collaborate with teammates and leadership to address production issues and support continuous improvement in machining processes. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of experience as a machinist. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings. Hands-on experience with vertical and horizontal CNC machines on 4-axis mills or lathes. Proficiency working with Fanuc, Mazak, and Haas CNC controls. Skill in using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Strong blueprint reading and dimensional inspection skills. Ability to work independently once machines are running while maintaining quality and throughput. Additional Skills & Qualifications CNC setup experience is preferred but not required. Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) is a plus. Familiarity with general fabrication processes and shop practices. Attention to detail and a focus on producing accurate, high-quality parts. Work Environment You work in a mid-size, temperature-controlled shop that is very clean and well maintained. The environment supports focused, detail-oriented machining work with modern CNC equipment and precision measuring tools. The schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime shift in a professional and organized production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clinton, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
