Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills in an aerospace manufacturing environment, producing both low-volume and higher-volume aluminum parts with precision and efficiency across multiple shifts. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes, including Haas, Gantry, and Mori-Seiki machines, to produce aluminum components. Set up and operate CNC mills to machine aluminum parts according to specifications. Produce both one-off and two-off prototype parts as well as runs of up to 100 parts in a single shift while maintaining quality and consistency. Interpret and apply G and M codes to program, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC machining operations as needed. Use computer skills, including Microsoft software and Haas mill interfaces, to manage programs, adjust settings, and document work. Work with aluminum materials to machine structural and aerospace components to tight tolerances. Perform required setups, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and machine offsets, to ensure accurate production. Follow fabrication and aerospace manufacturing standards and procedures to ensure safety, quality, and compliance. Inspect parts during and after machining to verify dimensions and quality, making adjustments as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all shop safety guidelines. Essential Skills 3+ years of CNC mill machining experience. Experience setting up CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, and offsets. Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes such as Haas, Gantry, and Mori-Seiki. Proficiency working with aluminum materials in a machining environment. Ability to produce both low-quantity prototype parts and higher-volume production runs. Knowledge and practical use of G and M codes for CNC programming and adjustments. Computer skills, including use of Microsoft software and Haas mill controls. Experience in fabrication within an aerospace or similar precision manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience machining structural or aerospace components. Comfort working with multiple CNC platforms and adapting to different machine controls. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and optimize setups for efficiency. Work Environment The role is based in an aerospace manufacturing facility that produces structural parts, primarily from aluminum. Work centers around CNC lathes and mills, including Haas, Gantry, and Mori-Seiki machines, using G and M codes and Haas mill controls in a precision-focused environment.
Shifts are structured as follows:
day shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; night shift runs Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to approximately 3:30 a.m.; and a weekend shift runs Friday through Sunday from 4:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The environment emphasizes fabrication for aerospace applications, adherence to quality standards, and safe operation of machinery in a production shop setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.75 - $37.00/hr.
