At Horizon Manufacturing & Repair, we don't run simple production parts all day. We specialize in complex industrial repair, custom machining, reverse engineering, and high-mix / low-volume work for industries including steel mills, mining, drilling, energy, oil & gas, paper mills, pumps, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems. We are expanding our CNC turning capabilities with the addition of a brand new Mazak

mill/turn lathe, and we are looking for a highly capable CNC machinist who truly understands Mazak equipment, Mazatrol programming, setup strategy, tooling, and process development. This is not a button-pusher or parts-loader position. We are looking for someone who can independently set up, program, troubleshoot, optimize, and run complex jobs with minimal oversight. Someone who understands how to think through complete machining processes, not just load parts and press cycle start. We are particularly interested in machinists who enjoy difficult setups, process optimization, and solving jobs that require real machining knowledge. If you are the kind of machinist who takes pride in solving difficult jobs, making chips efficiently, holding tight tolerances, and figuring out what others cannot then this is the type of shop you've been looking for. What You'll Be Doing Set up and operate CNC Mazak lathes and mill/turn equipment Program using Mazatrol, conversational, and/or G-code Work with our new MazakQT-350MY

We are not looking for entry-level operators or resume fluff. We are looking for someone who: Has significant real-world CNC lathe and mill/turn experience Has strong Mazak and Mazatrol experience Can independently perform complete setups and program modifications Understands tooling, workholding, materials, and machining strategy at a high level Can think critically and solve problems without needing constant direction Understands tight-tolerance work and precision inspection Can efficiently machine difficult or high-value parts Takes ownership and pride in their work Maintains professionalism, organization, and accountability Wants to continually improve their craft Strong preference given to candidates with: Mazak mill/turn experience Y-axis live tooling experience Tailstock experience Multi-axis machining experience CAD/CAM experience Industrial repair or job shop experience Experience machining large or difficult parts Experience with prototype or high-mix / low-volume work You will be working with a brand new Mazak QT-350MY, a Mazak QTU-250, and more. We are actively investing in our CNC machining department and have added four machines to the shop floor this year alone. Our equipment and team includes:
CNC Mazak turning and mill/turn equipment CNC vertical mills with 4th-axis capability Manual engine lathes Vertical turret lathes (VTLs) Manual horizontal mills Knee mills and various support equipment A highly capable fabrication and welding department A strong mechanic/millwright team We are building a shop with broad capability, not just repetitive production capacity. Challenging Work This is not repetitive production. Every week brings different parts, different materials, and different challenges. Skilled Team Environment You'll work alongside experienced machinists, welders, fabricators, mechanics, and industrial repair specialists. Real Autonomy We value machinists who can think independently, solve problems, and take ownership of their work.
