Jul 1, 2026 Job Description CNP Assistant Director Qualifications Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Nutrition or a Food Service-related field At least 3 years' experience in nutrition supervision, training, planning, and monitoring a food service establishment preferred Must possess or have the ability to possess ServSafe Certificate within 1 month of employment Knowledge and experience in purchasing and financial matters Knowledge of federal and state CNP regulations Knowledge of grant and bid writing and management Good public relations skills Ability to work a flexible schedule Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner Ability to proficiently use current technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information Must have superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings. Must work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups. Ability to communicate through oral, written, and electronic communications and the ability to produce, lead, and deliver presentations to various stakeholders. Ability to use technology for menu nutritional analysis, meal counting and claiming, automated applications, inventory control, and financial reporting. Must possess management skills to supervise and train personnel Ability to develop programs specific to the needs of student Must hold a valid Alabama driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance. Director of Child Nutrition ProgramSUPERVISES
Child Nutrition personnel including, but not limited to school nutrition field supervisor, managers, inventory clerks, and support staff.Job Goal:
To assist the Director of CNP in menu planning, bid writing, grant applications, and financial documents. To help plan, coordinate and supervise the child nutrition daily operations; assist in assuring quality and cost control of the Child Nutrition Department; assist in training Child Nutrition employees; train and provide work direction to assigned staff; make recommendations of how kitchen equipment can be more efficient in placement of the kitchens. Monitor compliance with sanitation, safety and record-keeping requirements. To proactively identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance the overall quality of our services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applicable toAll Employees:
Attend on a regular and predictable basis. Complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness. Uphold Board policies, including the anti-harassment program. Work in a cooperative manner with students, teachers, staff, supervisors, and the public. Work effectively and efficiently under time and productivity standards.Essential Job Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and priorities. Provides administrative leadership for child nutrition programs and must be competent of dealing with situations in the director's absence Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, to delegate appropriately, and to prioritize tasks efficiently. Provide instruction and guidance to assigned staff regarding proper practices of food handling, serving, and storage, in accordance with established standards and procedures; provide continuing guidance to assure compliance with established policies. Maintains confidentiality of any Board of Education business, its staff, and its students. Monitor quality standards for the presentation and service of food and ensures the established food production system provides safe nutritious food of high quality. Implements a district-wide customer service driven philosophy that focuses on value and satisfaction. Follows established system HACCP procedures to ensure that food is prepared and served in a sanitary and safe environment and integrates employee safety regulations into all phases of the Child Nutrition Program operation. Assists Director in establishing procedures and policies for the Child Nutrition Program. Assists Director in monitoring all measurable financial objectives and goals of the CNP department Assists Director in establishing a centralized equipment replacement and maintenance program for all schools to include routine inspections, preparation of bids, scheduling of maintenance, and routine disposition of surplus equipment. Works with CNP Managers on operational procedures for efficient and effective food production and distribution and assists CNP Manager in using appropriate financial management techniques. Assists in the implementation of a cost-effective procurement system. Understands purchasing guidelines to ensure purchased food and supplies reflect product knowledge, customer preferences, district needs, policies, and nutrition objectives. Follows standards for receiving, storing, and inventorying food and non-food supplies based on sound principles of management. Assists Director in monitoring program to ensure CNP compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies. Provides technical assistance and training for school foodservice personnel, school administrators, and other school support staff. Assists the Director in providing services in response to disaster or emergency situations. Promotes positive public relations and develops literature that informs and promotes the CNP program. Plans nutritious, appealing menus in cooperation with CNP Director that meet the requirements of the selected USDA menu planning options Assists with updating menus and nutritional analysis information on the district website Works with school staff, teachers, and parents to plan menus for child with special nutritional needs. Assists the Director in developing long terms goals through strategic planning for the Child Nutrition Program that supports the philosophy and policies of the Board of Education. Implements policies and procedures to ensure the effective operations of the CNP according to federal, state and local regulations and laws. Implements a long-range program for establishing professional status for the CNP's role in education of the community. Assists in processing Free and Reduced lunch applications and verifying them for accuracy per federal guidelines for the school district. Assists in developing job performance standards that provide for performance improvement. Follows methods for hiring, training, and evaluating personnel that recognize education, experience, performance, and certification. Follows standards for the professional development of the system's CNP personnel and maintains annual documentation of professional development hours according to USDA's Professional Standards. Assists Director in preparation of data related to program reviews for external and internal audits Maintains a neat and professional appearance. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system Inform CNP Director immediately of problems and/or sensitive situations. Attend staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor and attend professional development opportunities offered at locally, state, national or online as assigned by CNP Director. Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Superintendent.Essential Physical Demands:
