VSPC & Elections Coordinator

San Juan County is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as the VSPC and Elections Coordinator . This role is essential for maintaining the integrity, transparency, and efficiency of our local election process.

THE MISSION

Join the front lines of democracy. As our VSPC and Elections Coordinator, you'll be the engine behind the local election process, ensuring every vote in San Juan County is handled with the highest level of integrity, transparency, and care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES VSPC

Coordination:

Manage the setup, layout, and daily operations of polling center.

Voter Services:

Assist with voter registration, ballot issuance, and voter record updates.

Ballot Processing:

Oversee ballot intake, tracking, and the signature/ID "cure" process.

Staff Logistics:

Recruit, schedule, and support the training of election judges.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

Pay Range:

$19.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Schedule:

Flexible part-time hours (10-20 hrs/week) during training, election prep, and between elections, and full-time (40 hrs/wk) availability during business hours (8am-4pm) and one Saturday during the two weeks prior to election day (June 30th and Nov. 3rd).

Duration Note:

While the current duration is slated for the 2026 Election cycle, this role may be evaluated for transition to a permanent position after November, strictly contingent upon departmental needs and future organizational structure.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail. Strong computer skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to specialized election software. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a public-facing environment. Willingness to obtain certification as a Colorado Election official (training is provided).
