Job Description

•This is not a remote position. This will be in-person. The ideal applicant would be positioned relatively closely to one or more of the following hospitals: Henderson County Community Hospital in Lexington, TN Houston County Community Hospital in Erin, TN Haywood County Community Hospital in Brownsville, TN Perry County Community Hospital in Linden, TN Stuart Community Hospital in Stuart, VA Position Purpose Performs a wide range of ambulance coding/billing duties, including but not limited to: preparation of ambulance billing and interacting with insurance companies. This individual will be given guidance and educational opportunities to develop their career.
Position Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma Experience:
Desirable characteristics include at least one year of coding experience but not required. Must be able to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of computer, Excel, Word and Outlook. Licenses /

The overall physical demand rating for a job of the Medical Coder falls within the Low classification. General Job Position Duties /
Responsibilities EMS Coder Duties and Responsibilities:
Working out of Instamed, CPSI, Inovalon, and ESO systems Correctly applying documentation requirements to coding patient care report Cooperate fully with all rules, regulations and Standard Operating guidelines Recognizes that accurate and timely billing that follows all laws and regulations is essential to the continuing successful operation of EMS Assigns appropriate ICD-10 codes based on the information documented in the patient care report. Assign the appropriate level of ambulance based on the CAD report Assign appropriate charges for services supported in patient care report Review all documentation to determine medical necessity of the ambulance transport Follow up on unpaid and denied insurance claims.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A knowledge of medical terminology and of electronic clearinghouse procedures Good verbal and written communication skills. Proper use of ICD-10 and Ambulance billing Knowledge of all confidentiality requirements regarding patient information and strict maintenance of proper confidentiality on all such information. Good time management and organizational skills.
