Job Description

Job Opening:
Dispatcher/Jailer Fillmore County Sheriff's Office - Nebraska The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for a full-time Dispatcher/Jailer . This dual-role position is essential to maintaining public safety by coordinating emergency communications and ensuring the secure, professional operation of the county jail facility. Position Summary The Dispatcher/Jailer serves as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls while also assisting with the supervision, care, and control of inmates. This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities Dispatch Duties:
Answer and prioritize emergency (911) and non-emergency calls Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel Monitor radio traffic and maintain accurate logs Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and other communication equipment
Jailer Duties:
Book and release inmates following established procedures Monitor inmate behavior and maintain safety and security within the facility Conduct routine cell checks and facility inspections Assist with inmate transportation as needed Maintain detailed records and reports Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Must be at least 18 years of age Valid driver's license Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Strong multitasking, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in dispatching, corrections, or law enforcement Certification in CPR/First Aid (or ability to obtain) Familiarity with radio systems and basic computer operations Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage (based on experience) Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan options Paid time off and holidays Training and certification opportunities Work Environment This position involves working in both an office setting and a secure correctional environment.
