Job Description

What You Will Be Doing:
Are you ready to guide meaningful, statewide work at the intersection of prevention, behavioral health, and Alaska's justice system? If you are passionate about strengthening systems that help individuals, families, and communities thrive and want to make a lasting, statewide impact, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead meaningful change. In this leadership role, you will provide statewide oversight for Alaska's Prevention and Early Intervention behavioral health system and support a dedicated team working across three program areas: Prevention and Early Intervention (including upstream prevention, diversion, reentry, and community corrections coordination) Therapeutic Courts Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) You will supervise program leaders and staff, including program managers and probation officers, who carry out program management and evaluation, participant case monitoring, compliance, referrals, screening, case management, and accountability functions across the justice and treatment systems. You may also serve in a backup capacity for Probation Officer/Investigator duties when needed. In this role, you will also help ensure services are effective, aligned, accountable, and responsive to community needs while supporting staff development and advancing evidence-based prevention and early intervention strategies. You will lead policy, program, and system improvement efforts using data and analysis to guide decision-making and service quality. In addition, this position also serves as a key liaison with the Alaska Court System, the Departments of Corrections and Public Safety, treatment providers, tribal organizations, and federal partners. Your leadership will help strengthen coordinated responses across behavioral health and justice systems statewide. You will oversee budgets, grants, and statewide funding strategies to ensure compliance, accountability, and sustainable program delivery. Beyond daily oversight, this position offers the opportunity to shape how Alaska approaches prevention and early intervention, reduce long-term behavioral health impacts, and advance coordinated approaches that support health outcomes across the state.

AND Three years of Senior-level professional experience in mental health services program development and management. Senior-level experience is typically characterized by responsibility for planning, development, management, or operation of programs and service delivery systems, fiscal management, needs assessment, program evaluation, and similar tasks. APSIN CHECK
This position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use
APSIN. DPS
will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
