THIS IS NOT AN INVESTIGATOR POSITION
_ The Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) is an independent agency of the Commonwealth which conducts investigations of abuse and neglect of adults with disabilities; oversees the investigations conducted by other agencies and oversees the remediation of cases of abuse. The DPPC is seeking an Intake Specialist within the Intake Unit.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer the DPPC 24-hour abuse Hotline on assigned hours. Receive allegations of abuse and death reportsusing published protocols, determine if the allegation falls within the M.G.L. Ch.19C guidelines, assess the risk to the client, the nature of abuse, and identify potential emergency situations. Refer callers to appropriate agencies if the situation is not appropriate for Intake. Review Ch.19C investigation reports conducted by DPPC and EOHHS agencies to assure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and procedural criteria. Provide follow-up on all protective service plans. Routinely monitor ongoing services through direct contact with field offices/designated liaisons to ensure the safety of victims. Provide consultation to EOHHS agency staff regarding the development of protective service plans. Maintain accurate records of case activity. Analyze data and prepare reports as requested. Assess and monitor risk and follow the investigative process. Essential Duties
  • Receive allegations of abuse or death reports.
  • Assess the risk, nature of abuse, and potential emergency situations.
  • Accurately document all case activity and enter information accurately into the database.
  • Refer/send calls to appropriate agencies.
  • Provide resource information to callers as requested.
  • Assess the level of risk to victims based on information received.
  • Make referrals to DCF, AGE, DPH and law enforcement when appropriate.
  • Organize and prioritize daily tasks and activities. .
  • Confer with supervisor, EOHHS agency staff, vendor program staff, law enforcement, and other state or private agencies as needed to ensure implementation of appropriate protective services.
  • Maintain records and prepare correspondence in a manner consistent with all applicable laws, regulations, protocols, procedures, and policies.
  • Attend meetings and training as directed and/or approved.
  • Perform general administrative tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Participate in/facilitate special projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Skilled in gathering information through questioning or observing individuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Experienced in compiling precise, high-impact verbal and written reports.
  • Skilled in precise record management.
  • Proficient in selecting and interpreting relevant data.
  • Skilled in engaging with internal teams, advocacy groups, and law enforcement.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrating high discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Knowledge of protective services with experience in protective service planning and delivery.
  • Ability to make risk assessments and develop appropriate protective service plans pursuant to all applicable protocols, policies and procedures.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory or law enforcement work, or regulatory administration work (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
An Associate's or higher degree may be substituted for the required experience.
