Compliance Specialist Position Summary:
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing Section 504 processes, supporting manifestation determination procedures, serving as the Building Test Coordinator, and coordinating services under the McKinney-Vento Act. This position ensures the school system remains in compliance with federal and state regulations while supporting administrators, teachers, and staff in implementing consistent, student-centered practices throughout the school year. Qualifications Valid Alabama teaching certificate required Master's degree preferred (Educational Leadership, School Counseling, or related field) Experience with Section 504, compliance, or assessment coordination preferred Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet strict deadlines Knowledge of federal and state laws related to student services and assessment Primary Responsibilities Section 504 Coordination Serve as the system-level coordinator for all Section 504 processes Facilitate eligibility meetings, plan development, and annual reviews Ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation Collaborate with counselors, administrators, teachers, and families to support student needs Provide guidance and training to staff on 504 procedures and accommodations Coordinate summer reviews, transitions, and scheduling considerations for 504 students Manifestation Determination Support Coordinate and facilitate manifestation determination meetings in collaboration with special education staff and administration Ensure timelines and procedures align with federal and state requirements Gather and organize relevant documentation, including behavior records, interventions, and academic data Support administrators in maintaining compliance during disciplinary actions involving students with disabilities Serve as a liaison between general education, special education, and district personnel Assist with end-of-year and beginning-of-year compliance reviews Building Test Coordinator (BTC) Serve as the primary coordinator for all state and district assessments Ensure all testing procedures are administered in accordance with state guidelines and testing security protocols Develop and communicate testing schedules across schools Train faculty and staff on testing procedures and expectations Coordinate accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English learners Oversee test material distribution, collection, and security Troubleshoot testing issues and communicate with district assessment personnel Support summer testing, make-up testing, and preparation for the upcoming school year Additional Responsibilities Support school administrators with compliance-related tasks and reporting Assist in monitoring student data related to accommodations, interventions, and assessment outcomes Participate in district-level meetings and training related to student services and assessment Promote alignment and consistency of practices across all schools Assist with summer planning and system readiness for the upcoming year Perform other duties as assigned by theSuperintendent Salary and Terms of Employment:
