Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Controller to lead our financial oversight within the construction division. This pivotal role involves managing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, with experience in governmental, non-profit, or public accounting environments. Join us to drive financial excellence and contribute to impactful construction projects through meticulous financial management and analysis. Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of construction project accounting, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and journal entries using accounting software such as Foundation or similar platforms. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal controls aligned with SOX and other relevant standards. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and cash management strategies to optimize liquidity. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations regularly to verify accuracy of financial data and identify discrepancies promptly. Prepare detailed financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and project cost reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors. Support payroll processing and ensure accurate allocation of labor costs across projects while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. Perform technical accounting tasks related to cost capitalization, revenue recognition under IFRS or GAAP standards, and other complex financial concepts relevant to construction operations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. Proven experience in construction accounting or a similar industry with strong knowledge of
GAAP, IFRS, SOX
compliance, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices. Proficiency in financial software such as Foundation or equivalent; experience with financial management systems is highly desirable. Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles, account reconciliation techniques, and financial analysis methodologies. Familiarity with budgeting processes, forecasting tools like Excel or specialized software, and regulatory reporting requirements. Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders while maintaining high levels of integrity and confidentiality.
