Inside Estimator - Commercial Automatic Doors (Doors & Hardware) Edelman-Lyon Automatic Door is a full-service company and leader in selling and servicing commercial automatic doors throughout the Midwest for 75+ years. We represent top manufacturers in the industry. This role supports contractors, architects, facilities teams, and end users by producing accurate, timely estimates and helping convert awarded bids into clean project handoffs. What you'll do Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to determine scope and door/hardware requirements. Perform takeoffs and build complete door packages (materials, labor, and applicable accessories). Prepare and submit accurate proposals on time, including clear scope, clarifications, and exclusions. Coordinate with architects, contractors, and customers to resolve questions and ensure compliance with project requirements. Track bid activity in the CRM, follow up on submitted proposals, and document outcomes. Support conversion of awarded bids into orders and ensure a smooth handoff to project management/operations. Maintain pricing/vendor coordination and stay current on product changes and industry requirements. Prospect and qualify opportunities through bid platforms (ConstructConnect, SmartBid, PlanHub, etc.) as assigned. What success looks like Consistent on-time bid submissions with strong accuracy and margin adherence. High-quality proposals that reduce PM rework and change-order risk. Organized follow-up and clean CRM documentation across active bids. Requirements 2+ years of construction estimating experience (commercial preferred). Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and addenda. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with estimating tools and basic computer applications (Excel, PDF markup/takeoff tools). Strong written and verbal communication; able to work directly with contractors and architects. Preferred Experience estimating commercial door/hardware and/or automatic doors. Experience with electrified hardware / low-energy operators / ADA-related requirements (as applicable). Experience working in a CRM. Industries we serve Healthcare, retail, education, government, senior living, hospitality, manufacturing.
