  • Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing health and safety programs on construction projects to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
This role promotes a proactive safety culture, minimizes workplace risks, conducts training, and supports field operations to maintain safe working conditions for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Program Management Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans and procedures. Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations. Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits. Monitor high-risk activities including fall protection, excavation, confined space entry, crane operations, and lockout/tagout procedures. Maintain safety documentation, permits, and records. Training & Communication Conduct safety orientations for new hires, subcontractors, and visitors. Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing training programs. Educate field personnel on hazard recognition and safe work practices. Promote a culture of accountability and continuous safety improvement. Incident Prevention & Investigation Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions. Track and analyze safety metrics and trends. Coordinate return-to-work and corrective action programs when necessary. Field Support & Compliance Partner with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure safe execution of work. Stop unsafe work practices when necessary. Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment. Assist with emergency response planning and drills. Reporting & Administration Maintain OSHA logs and required compliance reports. Prepare safety performance reports for management and clients. Coordinate third-party inspections and regulatory visits. Support pre-construction planning from a safety perspective. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field preferred. 3-7+ years of construction safety experience. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations. OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500, CHST, CSP, or other certifications preferred. Experience working on commercial, industrial, civil, or residential construction projects. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in field environments and travel to jobsites as needed. Preferred Skills Risk assessment and hazard analysis Incident investigation Safety auditing and inspections Construction means and methods knowledge Training and presentation skills Microsoft Office and safety management software proficiency Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders, navigate uneven terrain, and access elevated areas. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment This position primarily operates on active construction sites with exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment, and changing environmental conditions. Proper PPE is required at all times.
