In support of our client, a regional general contractor, we are searching for a Superintendent/Field Manager to join their team located near . This assignment may require additional travel to client sites in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. This is a contract to hire opportunity with the client. This position holds responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of industrial construction projects on site to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. An additional focus of this position is to strengthen existing as well as build new and lasting relationships with clientele and subcontractors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Upon assignment of project, refine project specific and client-driven goals and schedules. Establish and maintain project goals and success criteria meeting the client's needs. Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and supervise multiple activities for project. Coordinate work with different crafts and subcontractors, assuming responsibility for productivity, and contractual performance of the project. Maintain project budget, schedules, and cost control. Manage project labor on a daily and weekly basis to ensure the project progresses in a timely manner. Update schedule weekly with Project Manager. Communicate weekly project schedule updates to subcontractors and owners. Review field change orders prior to submitting to Project Manager. Submit draft RFIs to Project Manager for approval. Share leadership with Project Manager of weekly project meetings with all stakeholders. Review and address plan details, resolve issues before they result in added budget expenditures. Maintain continual open communication with design team, Project Manager, client, and subcontractors to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Maintain awareness of safety rules and procedures among personnel, identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions. Document hours worked and submit to HR/Payroll Coordinator each week. Attend client meetings as required. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; will consider candidates with 10-15+ years of hands on field management in lieu of a degree Minimum 5-10 years of work experience in an industrial construction environment Exceptional organizational, time management, and decision-making/problem-solving skills Ability to read, understand, and implement construction documents Ability to calculate correct concrete, stone, and lumber quantities for projects Excellent supervisory skills with ability to directly supervise employees and subcontractors Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PM software and Bluebeam. Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license with good driving record and ability to operate a pickup truck Current OSHA Construction 10-Hour certification Must be willing to travel occasionally to other client sites in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.
