The Control Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the effective operations of the Command control team by providing support and regular engagement with the team. This role ensures that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met by managing crew numbers, allocating resources, and maintaining communication with site stakeholders. The Control Room Supervisor plays a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with operational procedures, and facilitating team training and development.Key Responsibilities:
Manage appropriate crew numbers and allocate resources to achieve planned outcomes and execute the daily mine plan. Oversee team performance to ensure KPIs are met through coaching and regular feedback. Engage with site stakeholders to align expectations and operational goals. Facilitate training and development programs for team members. Conduct investigations into performance standards when required or at the request of site stakeholders.Job Requirements:
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Set the workplace health and safety culture within control operations. Comply and adhere with all company policies, regulations, and procedures. Report autonomous related incidents as soon as practicable. Participate in safety enquiries, safety meetings, and site safety programs as and when required. Promote and uphold a zero-harm safety culture, ensuring all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training sessions to reinforce best practices. Participate in SOP reviews, risk assessments, and other safety protocols related to autonomous operations. Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with earthworks and AHS activities. Advocate for adherence to AHS safety protocols during operations and testing phases.Operations Management:
Manage shift handovers and pre-start processes. Ensure haul fleet operations efficiency and compliance with the mine plan. Maintain all safety compliance, including hazard identification, and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs). Oversee data integrity, including monitoring delays, blends, and shift reports. Manage end-of-shift and incident reporting. Oversee onsite training for crew members. Promote reward and recognition initiatives within the crew. Ensure housekeeping is maintained at company-acceptable levels. Monitor operations and processes within defined parameters.Performance Management:
Prioritize work to meet shift objectives. Follow specific operating procedures. Complete and validate shift reports, shift handover, and document all issues requiring follow-up. Employ efficient production practices e.g.: decision support, travel progress, and status page.Communication and Liaison:
Prompt communication with affected parties when plans or decisions are modified. Ensure communication with peers, supervision, and other employees contribute to safe and harmonious working relationships. Follow direction of supervisor in emergency response situations.Qualifications:
Essential:
Grade 12 or equivalent. College diplomas or university degrees in related fields such as mine engineering, robotics, or autonomous systems are considered an asset. 3 or more years of experience in an open pit mining environment or autonomous operations environment. Strong leadership and team building skills. Approachable, customer focused, and able to influence others- get work done through others and able to effectively manage up. Negotiation skills
- ability to be able to achieve target outcomes in an environment of competing priorities. Organizational and priority setting
- able to make complex decisions and prioritize outcome.
Preferred:
Advanced computer literacy. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Sound knowledge of open pit mining fundamentals and autonomous mining operations. Previous exposure to Autonomous Mining Systems is highly desirable, but not essential. Frontline Management or similar training.Working Conditions:
