POSITION
CONTROLLER We are seeking a Controller to take on a vital leadership role at the heart of our financial operations. As a trusted member of our executive team, the Controller will provide direction, insight, and oversight across all accounting functions.
Job Focus:
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Monitor the financial operations of the company to ensure compliance in all departments. Manage the annual audit(s) and ensure all audits are performed timely. Evaluate the performance of the auditing firm(s). Assist third-party CPA firm with the preparation of required federal and state tax reports. Oversee the preparation and payment of required federal and state tax returns and business licenses. Review, edit and interpret monthly financial statements. Prepare and achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions. Maintain financial staff by recruiting, orienting, and training employees. Coach, counsel, and reprimand employees; provide constructive and engaging performance reviews for all accounting personnel. Oversee, maintain, and analyze the FMI Financial Model to forecast and monitor business performance and identify potential future financial challenges. Calculate bank ratio covenants and forecast future compliance. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, advising management on needed actions. Ensure full utilization of Spectrum for more efficient execution of accounting functions. Primary contact for resolving issues in the Spectrum system. Ensure the accounting department is running as efficiently as possible by reviewing processes and procedures and revising them to improve efficiency as needed. Ensure continued growth of the accounting staff through planning and cross-training. Primary liaison for the banks and all financial and 401(k) audits. Maintain professional and technical knowledge. Attend educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks and participate in professional societies. Schedule and hold regular meetings with the accounting department staff to resolve issues, provide training, and encourage team building. Attend meetings as called by management. Perform research projects and other duties as assigned by the management.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in accounting or finance.
Experience:
Minimum ten years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Experience with accounting software Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
