- Temporary, Contract We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a construction organization in Greeley, Colorado on a Contract basis.
This role will oversee core accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and support accurate reporting across the business. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to reconciliation, month-end activities, and documentation management while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
Direct daily accounting activities and ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner. Prepare and review journal entries, account analyses, and supporting schedules to facilitate reliable month-end and period-end close processes. Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts, cash activity, and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly. Establish, monitor, and improve accounting controls to support compliance and safeguard financial information. Compile, organize, and review financial and operational documentation, including scanned records and supporting files for audits or internal review. Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain consistent accounting practices and provide clarity on financial results. Evaluate account activity and investigate variances to ensure the general ledger reflects complete and accurate information. Support special accounting projects and process-related initiatives as needed within the finance function. Prior experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role, ideally within the construction industry or a related environment. Strong knowledge of general accounting operations, financial controls, and account reconciliation procedures. Demonstrated ability to prepare adjusting journal entries and manage balance sheet, bank, and cash reconciliations. Experience organizing, compiling, and maintaining documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Solid understanding of month-end close processes and the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies efficiently. Proficiency in reviewing financial data, maintaining internal controls, and supporting accurate reporting. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a Contract assignment.
