Job Description

Electrical Controls EngineerAn experienced Electrical Controls Engineer is sought with strong expertise in Rockwell Automation platforms and AutoCAD. This role supports the design, development, and implementation of electrical controls systems for industrial machinery used across multiple advanced manufacturing industries.

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with 3-10 years of experience working in an OEM environment. The role involves designing and programming PLC- and HMI-based control systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting equipment start-up and service activities at customer sites. Responsibilities span the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through production, including both new product development and upgrades to existing systems.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and evaluate mechanical and electrical devices and systems, including power circuits, I/O ladder diagrams, enclosure layouts, panel layouts, operator station layouts, bills of materials, termination drawings, and field wiring diagrams in accordance with NEC, NFPA, and UL standards using AutoCAD.Analyze and develop design approaches to meet production requirements for new, modified, upgraded, or improved products and processes.

Provide technical guidance and design input as needed throughout the development process.

Participate in hands-on electrical start-ups, including system setup, PLC/HMI programming, testing, and debugging.

Perform field service, installation, and commissioning activities at customer sites.

Collaborate with internal engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure successful project execution.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred, or equivalent relevant industry experience.3-10 years of experience programming PLC platforms and implementing HMIs in an OEM environment.

Demonstrated experience with PLC-controlled automated equipment, primarily Allen-Bradley PLCs, using Rockwell Automation programming tools.

Working knowledge of Rockwell software and hardware, including MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Kinetix Motion, and FactoryTalk.

Ability to properly size electrical components and select appropriate devices for industrial applications.

Basic understanding of safety circuits, including design and application, as well as pneumatics and hydraulic systems.

Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.

Proficiency with MS Office, Rockwell Automation software, AutoCAD Electrical, and familiarity with Fanuc CNC systems and robotics.

Experience with additional PLC platforms such as Siemens, Omron, or Yaskawa is considered a plus.
