Controls Technician Reports To:
Commissioning Manager Position Summary The Controls Technician is responsible for installing, wiring, and testing pneumatic, electrical, and control systems on production equipment. This role supports assembly, troubleshooting, and final system validation with moderate supervision. 14/14 or 5-2. Familiar with PLC Controls )Allen Bradley/Murphy/ETC.) Familiar with Natural Gas Compression/Process Key Responsibilities Install and route pneumatic tubing on equipment and skids Lay out and connect tubing to end devices Bend and fabricate tubing (¼" to 1") including stainless steel Read and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, and general arrangement drawings Fabricate and install brackets, braces, and instrument racks Install conduit (rigid, EMT, aluminum, plasti-bond) and use conduit benders Perform electrical wiring and cable installation (manual and tray systems) Make final electrical connections after conduit installation Troubleshoot motor controls and electrical systems (including energized systems) Test tubing systems and control panels to ensure proper function Identify and report issues during testing and commissioning Support panel modifications, wiring changes, and component selection Maintain documentation (photos, diagrams) for installation methods Collaborate with suppliers on electrical component integration Assist with mechanical assembly as needed Participate in quality improvement initiatives Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred 2+ years of electrical or controls experience required 1-3 years of related hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting Vocational or technical training preferred Basic knowledge of electronics and control systems Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and NEC requirements Experience with pneumatic tubing installation Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Effective communication skills Physical Requirements & Work Environment Frequent standing (up to 75%) and occasional sitting (up to 25%) Regular climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces Ability to lift at least 50 lbs Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures and loud conditions Occasional operation of equipment such as forklifts Must be able to safely use ladders and maintain balance Required to wear PPE (FR clothing, hard hat, eye/ear protection, steel-toe boots, etc.) Travel Requirements Up to 10% travel Approximately 25% driving as part of the role
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
