Job Description
Description Role Overview The GSC Planner is responsible for designing, maintaining, and continuously improving material flow, storage strategies, and supporting systems for the Marion Metal Center GSC organization. The role provides leadership for safety, quality, delivery, and cost through proactive planning, PFEP and storage management, layout and signage control, and active participation in GMS, SLT, and Workplace Safety System processes. - Own and maintain PFEP and storage information spreadsheets, including min/max and signage, ensuring alignment between
PFEP, MES/MRP
systems (CSMS and MGO), and physical storage locations (Min/Max Bay / actual space).- Lead and execute the Min/Max Triple Check Validation Process, coordinating initial, double, and triple validations with Material Analysts and shop floor verification to ensure accurate min/max settings and signage.
- Manage and support the Signage Update Process, including generating quarterly signage check sheets, communicating changes to SLs, GLs, and TLs, and verifying postings through layered audits.
- Review and update layouts to optimize storage, flow, and future vision for GSC, while supporting plant layout initiatives and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders
- Manage and support the PPD pull system and equipment, including training group leaders, team leaders and drivers, and maintaining equipment. Safety, Workplace Safety System & Compliance
- Serve as the PS5 Champion for the Workplace Safety System (Mobile Equipment & Pedestrian Safety), including taking WSS training, maintaining the performance standard, completing calibration and evaluation tools, and presenting at PSRB.
- Lead and participate in PIV safety and performance activities, including the weekly PIV meeting, SFMEAS review, and mobile equipment-related actions and countermeasures.
- Support environmental requirements for the area, partnering with Environmental resources to execute initiatives that impact GSC operations. GMS, Leadership & Governance
- Lead the SLT Basketweave process, including organizing, following up, and closing out countermeasures, and supporting GMS SLT initiatives and Level 5 & 2/3 boards.
- Plan and execute Diagonal Slice meetings for GSC & PIV, ensuring actions are tracked to closure and feedback is integrated into continuous improvement plans.
- Support and coach the organization at all levels on GSC processes, KPIs, and standardized work, including coverage for GSC floor leadership when needed.
- Champion GMS principles, standardized work (JES/SOS/TIS), and continuous improvement, including problem solving activities and waste elimination within GSC.
- Drive problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives in the department to meet annual cost reduction KPI Required Qualifications
- 3+ years Experience in manufacturing, materials, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in an automotive or high-volume industrial environment, with exposure to PFEP, storage planning, or material flow optimization.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional meetings and initiatives and drive actions to closure.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working with spreadsheets and databases for PFEP, signage, and KPI tracking.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and workplace organization, including familiarity with safety observations, corrective actions, and compliance with plant health & safety policies, WPO standards, and high-risk tasks.
- Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience). 5+ years Experience in manufacturing, materials, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in an automotive or high-volume industrial environment, with exposure to PFEP, storage planning, or material flow optimization.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, BPD boards (Levels 1-5), Workplace Safety Systems
- Working knowledge of PFEP systems, Maximo, AutoCAD, and related GSC tools and standards.
- Proven experience leading continuous improvement, problem-solving efforts, and data-driven decision making in a production or logistics environment (6-sigma/OpEx) Work Schedule
- Primary coverage on day shift, with flexibility to support critical meetings, audits, or activities on other shifts as needed.
