Coordinator of Religious Education, Pre-School-Grade 8 The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles (LA Catholics) - 3.5 Rancho Palos Verdes, CA Job Details 7 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Word Computer operation Microsoft Outlook Computer literacy Communication platforms Preschool experience Delegation Team motivation (leadership skill) Full Job Description The Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) is a member of the pastoral staff willing to work collaboratively with the other staff members as well as with the support staff, catechists, and volunteers of the Office of Faith Formation. The CRE will also report to and work closely with the Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation. As a minister of the church called to evangelize, he or she should be motivated to serve the People of God.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively participate in all Pastoral Staff meetings. Attend and report to Pastoral Council as requested. Coordinate with pastoral staff members, as needed. Submit and maintain the annual budget. Coordinate with the Director of Evangelization/Faith Formation the parish participation in the Religious Education Congress. Maintain all records and activities mandated by the Archdiocese related to Sexual Abuse compliance, i.e., fingerprinting, Virtus, parent education, Empowering God's Children. Schedule rooms and events for the parish calendar
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate, organize, and support the Liturgy of the Word for Children. Evaluate and implement the goals and objectives of the Religious Education Program. Recruit, affirm, supervise, and assess the Preschool to Grade 8 Religious Education personnel, both staff and volunteers. Review curriculum resources for the Grade 1-Grade 8 Religious Education Program. Supervise in cooperation with the responsibilities of the Faith Formation assistant. Maintain active communication with all catechists. Offer Catechist In-services as needed. Coordinate with the Director of Evangelization opportunities for parents and families to grow in faith, parent skills and spirituality. Provide special liturgies and appreciation celebrations for catechists. Design and teach the formation program for the parents of the children preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Coordinate the activities related to all children who are in preparation for First Reconciliation and Eucharist as well as initiation into the Church. Interview every child with parent during second year of preparation for First Communion. Coordinate and inform parents of Religious Education calendar. Initiate program and activities appropriate for family involvement. Write weekly article in parish bulletin Communicate Religious Education events and calendar to parents. Participate in Archdiocesan Parish Catechetical Leader meetings and other appropriate events. Requirements A mature faith based on Gospel Values and Catholic Tradition A commitment to prayer and a willingness to share it with others. An attitude that inspires others to lead through motivating, delegating, and listening. A commitment to ongoing formation. A bachelor's degree or equivalent in theology, religious education, or religious studies. Master Catechist Certification desirable. At least 3 years of experience as a parish director of religious education. At least 5 years of catechetical experience on several grade levels. Certified Catechist through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles - One Mission One Faith(OMOF). If not yet certified, willingness and desire to attend OMOF and become certified. Computer literacy with skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and an ability to utilize distant means of communication, such as Zoom, YouTube, and Livestreaming. Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
