Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Corrections Location 266 Water Street Eddyville, KY 42038 USA Description Kentucky Correctional Industries was established in 1954 and have since provided goods and services for the private industry as well as the citizens of Kentucky. Currently, Correctional Industries is comprised of 15 separate types of industry, maintained in 8 correctional facilities across the state. Correctional Industries employs more than 700 inmates teaching job skills to reduce recidivism and to make these individuals more productive members of society. The Department of Corrections Division of Correctional Industries is seeking a Production Coordinator. Correctional Industries Production Coordinators located at Kentucky State Penitentiary are responsible for the supervision of manufacturing operations within the institution. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervision of furniture plant. Schedule and run the floor line. Oversee quality control. Manage the safety and security of the work area. Troubleshoot complaints about damages or malfunctions. Complete repairs. Organize and track tools.A successful candidate would have:
Strong communication skills. Organizational skills. Leadership skills. Ability to pay close attention to detail, think creatively, work as a team, make good decisions and work well under pressure. Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION
High school graduate.EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS
Must have two years of specific trade(s) experience in welding, metalworking, woodworking, sewing machine operating, sign making, graphic arts, offset, photolithographic or screen process printing, wood furniture making, paneling, clothing manufacturing, furniture upholstering, furniture refinishing, mattress manufacturing, soap manufacturing, metal fabricating, embroidery, two-way radio repair, or data entry work. One year of the required experience must include the supervision of employees in any field. SubstituteEDUCATION
forEXPERIENCE
Additional education in one of the above fields will substitute for one year of the specific trades experience on a year-for-year basis. SubstituteEXPERIENCE

Work environment is hazardous due to working in a state correctional facility with inmates.
