Job Description

Correctional Industries Supervisor Assistant - Laundry Full Time, Permanent Monroe Correctional Complex Monroe, WA Correctional Industries (CI) within the Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking highly motivated and qualified individual to fill a full time, permanent position as a Correctional Industries Supervisor Assistant - Laundry ( CISA ) . This position is located at Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) near Monroe, Washington. This position typically works Monday through Friday. The candidate of choice must be comfortable working in a Prison environment as you will be required to work in facility daily. Flexible schedules Comprehensive compensation packages Training and development opportunities Correctional Industries (CI) is committed to maintain and expand incarcerated worker training programs which develop marketable skills, instill and promote positive work ethics and reduce the tax burden of corrections. This position supports that objective by directly supervising the activities of CI Laundry located at the Monroe Correctional Complex. Duties include, but are not limited to: Assists in the supervision and training of incarcerated workers to support the daily operations of MCC Laundry services: Observe/supervise incarcerated workers operating and maintaining equipment/machinery in the daily operations at the MCC Laundry. Supervise and train incarcerated workers in the operation of laundry production equipment, production reporting, machine programming, and preventative maintenance. Provide assistance to ensure adherence to daily production schedules and accurate poundage reporting. Assist with process development and program improvement, to include quality control and process definition/review. Operate all machinery and equipment required to meet production needs. Drive box truck to pick up and deliver facility laundry as required. Drive state vehicles to pick up and deliver incarcerated individuals' uniforms as required. Document and provide feedback on incarcerated worker performance and behavior using infraction reports, incident reports, behavior logs, performance appraisals, certificates of proficiency, letters of counseling, or verbally, as appropriate and in accordance with DOC Policy. Assist in the laundry certification of incarcerated workers and maintain training documentation. Participates in planning and scheduling of resources and assists in inventory control and supply management: Participate in the scheduling of work and incarcerated workers to meet the demands of laundry pickup, processing, and delivery. Direct and assign incarcerated workers. Utilize CI timekeeping system to track/monitor incarcerated workers hours. Assist in control of supply inventory, track usage trends, create purchase requisitions for supplies, parts, and consumables. Monitor and verify SOPs are followed (e.g. identify and report deficiencies, conduct process evaluations, verify correct consumable usage). Monitors and ensures compliance with all health and environmental laws and regulations: Provide assistance to ensure safety practices are compliant with DOC policies and L&I guidelines, including chemical control. Provide assistance to ensure health and sanitation practices are compliant with DOC policies, L&I, and local department regulations. Assist with documentation of all training and safety requirements in incarcerated worker files. Ensures incarcerated workers receive safety training and adhere to safe work practices in accordance with
DOC Policies:
Maintain proper recordkeeping for the DOC Safety Program. Participate in and/or conduct weekly and monthly safety committee meetings and ensure worker participation and adherence to a safe work environment. Work with supervisor to ensure all production equipment meets current safety standards and incarcerated individuals are properly trained to operate machinery. Assist with documenting all required training and safety requirements in incarcerated worker files. Ensure incarcerated workers have access to current DOC Safety Program related manuals, policies, operational memorandums, procedures, and standards. Within established timelines, review and investigate accident reports to identify what caused the event and recommend preventative measures. Ensure use of any flammable, toxic, and/or caustic materials follow the hazard communication (HAZCOM) procedures and are accurately documented.
Ensures safe and secure operations:
Execute and maintain proper tool control processes in accordance with DOC Policy 420.500-Tool Control and ensure proper observation of security requirements. Account for incarcerated workers in accordance with DOC Policy Maintain key control per DOC Policy and report discrepancies. Assists with daily required searches, documenting safety and/or security concerns, and notification of management.
Required qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one (1) year experience working in a commercial laundry operation OR Must have held a position as a correctional industries supervisor assistant (CISA) for at least one (1) year, and must acquire the following association for linen management (SLM) certifications within six (6) months of employment: Certified Washroom Technician (CWT) OR Certified Linen Technician (CLT) AND Must be able to lift 40 pounds Maintain a valid Washington state driver's license
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Experience in teaching and training Coursework in production environments such as production processes and production flows Experience in quality assurance Experience working in a correctional facility
Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check. Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training. Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections. Become familiar and comply with all Department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable. Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy. Must successfully complete CWC training. Must pass pre-employment drug test.
