DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports positive use of leisure time by planning and guiding recreation programs inside the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene. It contributes to facility goals by promoting wellness, structure, and constructive engagement. As a Corrections Activities Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Program Planning:
Lead structured activities, wellness sessions, sports, and other organized programs
Group Leadership:
Direct groups of inmates during recreational activities and provide clear expectations for participation
Skills Instruction:
Provide rules, coaching, and basic officiating in various sports and recreation areas
Program Evaluation:
Monitor participation, review outcomes, and analyze findings to determine how well activities meet inmate needs and program goals
Facility Oversight:
Supervise inmate support in setting up, maintaining, and storing recreation equipment and spaces
Resource Management:
Request supplies and manage inventory to support ongoing program needs Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday
  • Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency Guidelines. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
