Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Corrections Officer - I, where you will play a vital role in maintaining safety, security, and order within our correctional facility. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, managing the day-to-day needs and activities of inmates, ensuring the well-being of staff, inmates, and visitors. You will be responsible for monitoring activities, enforcing rules, and responding swiftly to incidents using your observation skills and commitment to safety. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help foster a secure environment conducive to rehabilitation and community safety. Responsibilities Monitor inmate behavior and enforce facility rules to maintain order and safety Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including CCTV surveillance, to identify and address potential security issues Respond promptly to emergencies or disturbances using conflict management techniques and first aid when necessary Maintain accurate reports on incidents, inmate activities, and security logs through clear report writing Assist with inmate intake, transfers, and releases while adhering to security protocols Support law enforcement efforts by providing information and cooperating during investigations or inspections Experience Previous experience in law enforcement, military service, security operations, or related fields is preferred but not required; we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn Knowledge of CCTV monitoring systems and conflict management strategies is advantageous Certification in CPR and first aid is highly desirable; training will be provided if needed Strong report writing skills with attention to detail are essential for documenting incidents accurately Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally while maintaining a high level of alertness This role offers an engaging career path for individuals committed to public safety and community service.
