Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Estimator specialized in architectural metal to join our team at Raydeo Enterprises, Inc., a leader in commercial construction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with commercial construction projects, ensuring that projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Cost Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates, analyze project specifications, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids. Strong knowledge of construction materials, labor rates, and industry standards is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimating & Budgeting:
Review project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to determine the scope of work and identify potential risks and cost drivers. Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Create accurate and competitive bid proposals in alignment with project requirements, timeline, and client specifications. Analyze and interpret data from previous projects to develop accurate cost models for future estimates.
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination:
Solicit bids and proposals from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and the best value for the company. Evaluate and compare bids, identifying discrepancies, cost discrepancies, and potential savings. Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other external partners.
Risk & Value Engineering:
Identify and mitigate cost-related risks by recommending alternative solutions, value engineering options, or modifications to the project scope. Analyze historical project data and market trends to anticipate potential cost overruns or delays.
Project Support & Reporting:
Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure estimates align with the project's design and execution strategy. Track and report on project costs throughout the construction phase, monitoring budgets and providing recommendations for cost savings. Assist in the preparation of change orders and the negotiation of pricing adjustments with clients and contractors.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, contracts, and change orders. Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, industry regulations, and project specifications.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a cost estimator in the commercial construction industry. Experience with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam) is highly desirable. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry pricing standards.
Skills:
