Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Full-Time |
Day Shift Schedule:
Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. In this full-time, day-shift role, you will provide high-quality occupational therapy services under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, helping patients of all ages achieve meaningful functional outcomes. You'll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing your clinical expertise while supporting individualized plans of care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Key Responsibilities Deliver occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by the referring physician and supervising Occupational Therapist. Monitor patient progress and recommend treatment plan modifications based on patient response and condition. Assist Occupational Therapists with patient evaluations and standardized assessments within scope of practice. Implement treatment programs that reflect current clinical and scientific knowledge to help patients meet established goals. Provide safe, effective, and skillful therapeutic interventions across all applicable patient populations. Accurately complete written and electronic documentation in accordance with organizational standards, facility policies, and state practice acts, including proper co-signatures. Document changes in patient status, cancellations, and all treatment interventions rendered. Maintain productivity standards by effectively managing scheduling and daily caseloads. Complete charge and statistical data to ensure accurate reflection of services provided. Participate actively in staff meetings, in-services, departmental committees, and ongoing professional development. Supervise and support clinical support staff in accordance with state Occupational Therapy Practice Acts. Rotate through treatment areas and/or facilities as needed to support organizational needs. Communicate promptly and professionally with supervisors regarding departmental performance, patient safety concerns, and emergency situations. Demonstrated knowledge of normal human growth and development across the lifespan . Ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered customer service in a healthcare setting. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong ability to read, understand, analyze, and interpret medical records and clinical documentation . Effective written and verbal communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams. Proven skills in planning and organization, follow‑up and accountability, problem-solving, self-development, and stress management . Ability to apply logical reasoning and strategic thinking to a wide range of abstract and concrete clinical situations. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with healthcare team members, coworkers, supervisors, and corporate leadership . Ability to identify and support referral and service growth opportunities . Commitment to professional development; active participation in healthcare professional organizations is preferred . Compliance & Orientation Must successfully complete all mandatory competencies for the system, CRS business unit, and/or facility. Required to complete CRS Orientation , Facility-Specific Orientation , and Department-Specific Orientation(s) as applicable. As part of job duties, may work in areas where medications are stored; no contact with medications is permitted. Licensure, Certifications, & Clearances Licensed or license-eligible as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the practicing state. National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including didactic and skills demonstration, required within 30 days of hire .
