Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor specializing in Chemical Dependency to join our behavioral health team. This role involves providing comprehensive addiction counseling, mental health support, and clinical services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The Counselor will conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions to promote recovery and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in behavioral health practices, including psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention, while demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary environment. Duties Conduct detailed intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine patient needs and treatment goals. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health stabilization, and relapse prevention. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to enhance patient engagement and foster motivation for change. Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention strategies, ensuring patient safety and stabilization. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical staff, and community care providers—to coordinate comprehensive care. Conduct patient assessments related to PTSD care, behavioral health issues, and co-occurring disorders. Engage in case management activities such as follow-up care planning, resource linkage, and home or community-based support. Collect data for research purposes to improve clinical practices and treatment outcomes. Ensure adherence to ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10) for accurate diagnosis documentation. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, records management, and relevant legal regulations.
