Job Description

JOB The purpose of this position is to ensure accurate, prompt, and courteous service for the customers of the City of Grand Prairie. This is accomplished by supervising staff, providing problem resolution, and ensuring the department operates efficiently. Other duties include completing administrative duties and completing special projects.•

This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.

This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 10 pounds on occasion.

Plans, assigns, and monitors the work of employees. Ensures that technical assistance and supervision is provided to staff. Provides leadership and direction in short and long-range plans.

Train staff and provide an environment conducive to self-motivation and teamwork.

Supervises a team of clerical staff engaged in supporting municipal court proceedings.

Organizes, assigns, and reviews court personnel work.

Assists the Court Administrator with performance appraisals, participates in the hiring process, and provides training, support, and guidance to court staff.

Coordinates with, and provides support to court personnel, other departments including the legal, Police, and other law enforcement agencies. Assists with the implementation of operational court procedures needed in response to new legal requirements.

Coordinate and manage all court programs, activities, dockets, and criminal proceedings with judges, supervisory staff, court staff, attorneys, litigants, prosecutors, police departments, and other appropriate agencies and criminal justice entities.

Supervises and participates in the timely receipt and routing of citation payments and other financial transactions. Assists in preparing required state and specific reports to be submitted to the City Council, City Manager, Judges, and other governmental entities as requested by the Court Administrator.

Coordinate and manage all the court dockets and ensures that all legal processes and documents of the court are issued, executed, and approved. Attends court sessions, coordinates with attorneys regarding witnesses, defendants, and jurors. Maintains a current jury program.

Supervises the processing of payments of fines and other accounts receivables, as well as balancing receipts, preparing summary reports and deposits.

Enforces and reviews compliance with the Rules of Judicial Administration (Judicial Records) and Rule 12. Coordinates disposition of court records following requirements for court records retention.

Oversees restitution and community service programs.

Assist in maintaining court statistics and preparation of statistical reports. Conducts research using file archives. Reviews requests for Municipal Court s' records for compliance and coordinates its release.

Assists the Court Administrator and Judges with administrative duties such as budget research development, court services, legal correspondence, and technical assistance for the computer applications used by the court.

Attends conferences and training to implement and remain up to date with laws, regulations, and best practices for municipal courts.

Performs other duties that support the overall objective of the position as assigned by the Court Administrator.

Exercises considerable initiative and judgment and broad discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.

Conveys a positive professional image by action, communication, and appearance.

Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

Follows Judge's Standing Orders and performs duties ethically following the Judicial Cannons.

Must adhere to all City and Court Policies and Procedures and follow Security and Safety RegulationsRegular and dependable attendance is required.
