About the Clinician's WorkdayThe clinician will deliver comprehensive critical care services managing critically ill patients in the intensive care unit during both day and night shifts with 12-hour coverage periods.
Essential responsibilities include conducting face-to-face sign-out sessions from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, participating in multidisciplinary team rounds, and managing continuous intake of new consults and admissions from emergency departments, medical floors, and direct ICU transfers.
The position requires performing advanced critical care procedures including intubations, central venous catheter placements, arterial line insertions, chest tube placements, paracentesis, and lumbar punctures while maintaining direct communication with consulting specialists and conducting goals of care discussions with family members.
Additional duties include identifying appropriate candidates for ICU downgrades, facilitating direct ICU discharges when clinically indicated, and providing educational support to residents as necessary with preferred experience in tracheostomy placement and ECMO management.
