JOB SUMMARY
The Critical Care Technician assists staff Anesthesiologists in preparing and performing a variety of anesthesia preparations and procedures in the operation rooms and in remote anesthetizing locations. This position is proficient in the application of all anesthesia preparations and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED (Required) Associates Degree in Anesthesia Technology OR two (2) years' experience in an Anesthesia Tech or Critical Care Tech role (Required) Completion of Anesthesia Tech Program (Preferred)
CERTIFICATION/ LICENSURE/ REGISTRATION
ACLS Certification or Certification by the American Association of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) (Preferred) Work Experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong Verbal Communications Skills, Strong Written Communications Skills, Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND DEMANDS
Adequate hearing to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Hears alarms/telephone/tape recorder/normal speaking voice. Must be able to accurately document pertinent information either by writing or typing.
JOB ROLE
Operative Procedure Accountabilities:
Applies all equipment used in the operative care of the anesthetized patient and performs all duties at the direction of the Anesthesiologist, Nurse Anesthetists staff (CRNA), manager or lead technician. Applies all equipment used in the operative care of the anesthetized patient and performs all duties at the direction of the Anesthesiologist, Nurse Anesthetist staff (CRNA), manager or lead technician. Processes equipment used in anesthesia and the management of the anesthetized patient. Is competent in troubleshooting anesthesia equipment failures as a first responder. Is competent in the use of anesthesia equipment, monitoring and rapid blood delivery devices, for intraoperative and post-operative use. Uses knowledge of sterile technique to assist with central line and pulmonary artery catheter placement.
Post-Operative Accountabilities:
At the conclusion of each case and as directed by departmental policy and procedure, participates in the training/ orientation of new staff members to the operating room setting. Readies anesthesia equipment for subsequent use.
Pre-Operative Accountabilities:
Acts as a member of the Anesthesia team by preparing the patient/ machine interface for the delivery of anesthesia and the management of the patient during surgery. Assist in the sterile and aseptic preparation of the patient for the placement of the pulmonary artery, central venous and arterial and venous monitoring lines. Maintains all anesthesia equipment before, during and after the operative procedure. Is competent in a variety of anesthesia preparations and procedures in the operating room setting and in remote anesthetizing locations. Supports the anesthesia team by preparing, maintaining and cleaning equipment used with an anesthetic course
