Job Description

Seeking Theatrical Lighting Technicians open to doing something new and exciting! Are you the person backstage making impossible things happen five minutes before curtain? The one who can troubleshoot DMX signal issues in the dark, program cues under pressure, climb a lift without hesitation, and somehow still laugh at 2AM during load-out? What if you could take those same skills - lighting systems, show control, networking, fabrication coordination, live problem-solving, creative execution - and apply them to massive permanent installations, immersive environments, architectural lighting experiences, interactive exhibits, and one-of-a-kind tech-driven builds seen by millions? Design Communications Ltd. (DCL) is a premier custom manufacturer of specialty signage, custom interiors, unique lighting solutions, themed environments, tech-integrated installations, and elaborate sculptural elements with offices in Greater Boston, New York, and Orlando. We're looking for theatrical lighting technicians, programmers, live event techs, and production-minded creatives who are ready for a different kind of challenge. This isn't theatre, but it absolutely scratches the same itch. You'll still work with lighting, control systems, integration, programming, fabrication teams, installers, and creative collaborators. The difference? Instead of striking the set at the end of the run, you'll help create permanent, jaw-dropping experiences that live in airports, stadiums, entertainment venues, public spaces, museums, retail flagships, and iconic destinations around the world. We're looking for CT Techs for our Creative Technology team who thrive in organized chaos, enjoy solving technical puzzles, and genuinely love bringing creative ideas to life. If you've spent years balancing artistic intent with technical execution in theatre or live events, you already understand the mindset we need. This role is ideal for someone who wants to continue building extraordinary experiences while gaining more stability, broader technical exposure, long-term growth opportunities, and the chance to work on wildly diverse projects that blend lighting, AV, interactive media, fabrication, and architecture.
