SUMMARY:
Directly responsible for providing high quality instruction for the state approved CTE Agriculture Science classes. Responsible for advising FFA Career & Technical Student Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America club).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current Washington State CTE teaching certificate in endorsed areas, or willingness to obtain one Current First Aid/CPR certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience teaching at the secondary level Experience as a CTE Agriculture-Science teacher at the secondary level Experience leading FFA or after school leadership program or willingness to learn Experience working with students, families, and staff Experience working with community advisory committees Knowledge and/or experience with CASE or other Agriculture-Science curriculum or willing to become certified Knowledge of school operations Knowledge of greenhouse operations Knowledge of FERPA laws and procedures
SPECIFIC JOB-RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and prepare lesson plans and instructional materials for Agriculture-Science classes Deliver engaging lessons to diverse groups of students Teach Agricultural Science approved curriculum frameworks and district established goals Assign, correct, grade, and give feedback on classwork, homework , and tests Track student progress by maintaining accurate, complete, and timely records of student grades Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs Maintain inventory of all supplies and equipment for the Agricultural Science program Attend and participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings Maintain and demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance at all times Manage student behavior in the classroom and common areas by enforcing school rules and procedures Monitor student attendance Participate in in-service and professional development opportunities as assigned by administration Maintain a safe, clear and orderly classroom Maintain CTE curriculum frameworks and program approval information Maintain First Aid/CPR certificate Attend Program Advisory Committee meetings and District CTE meetings Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program Manage and advise FFA leadership program for enrolled students (stipend) Organize and prioritize work while being flexible with job duties and responsibilities Ability to consistently: Work positively with a wide variety of people both inside and outside of the organization Work with colleagues, teams, and administration in a collaborative manner Meet deadlines and multiple demands in pressure situations while maintaining high levels of quality work Maintain confidentiality Deal with the public, other agencies, and district employees in a positive and productive manner Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, including publishing, webpages, and social media Work with minimal supervision and be flexible Assist in student recruitment and promotion of CTE program of study Identify and order instructional supplies and maintenance of supplies and equipment assigned, including, but not limited to, inventory of supplies and equipment, supervising the use of supplies and equipment, instruction in the proper use of supplies and operation of equipment and the preventative maintenance and repairs of assigned supplies and equipment Promote college credit courses, apply to teach dual enrollment if applicable Perform other related duties as assigned by the high school administration
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate Preference given to candidates with an endorsement for assignment Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment in communicating with students, parents, staff, and community Demonstrated success by training/experience which recognizes all children as learners Preference given to quality current references Must submit a complete application packet To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary:
$52,690.00
  • $104,643.
00 per year; placement based on experience and level of education; advisor stipend of $5,450 for the 2026-2027 school year
Length of Contract:
1.0 FTE continuing contract beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, 182 days plus professional development
Leaves/Benefits:
Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Additional benefits may include sick leave, personal days, and holidays.
