Custodial Worker Job Description The custodial worker maintains a clean, safe, and orderly facility by performing routine cleaning tasks in offices, cafeterias, stockrooms, and other areas. This role involves regular use of cleaning equipment and chemicals, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to handle physically demanding work such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Responsibilities Perform routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and general housekeeping throughout the facility. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors, and restock necessary supplies. Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recyclables from offices, cafeterias, stockrooms, and common areas. Follow established safety procedures at all times, including proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in offices, cafeterias, stockrooms, and other assigned areas to meet professional standards. Operate basic cleaning tools and equipment safely and effectively as part of daily cleaning routines. Report any maintenance, safety, or cleanliness issues to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Support special cleaning projects or additional tasks as requested while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness. Complete required trainings in English and apply learned procedures consistently in daily work. Essential Skills 1 to 2 years of experience in cleaning, janitorial, custodial work, or general labor in a similar environment. Proficiency in routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and restroom cleaning. Experience with janitorial duties including trash removal, recycling, and general housekeeping. Ability to follow safety procedures and properly handle cleaning chemicals and supplies. Comfort with physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. Ability to complete and understand trainings in English as required. Reliable work habits and the ability to work a consistent hybrid shift schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in professional facilities such as offices, cafeterias, or stockrooms. Bilingual communication is accommodated and welcomed. Flexibility to work initial training on a different shift schedule. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Work Environment This is an onsite custodial position in a professional facility that includes offices, cafeterias, and stockrooms. You will work indoors and regularly move between different areas of the building to perform cleaning tasks. The standard hybrid shift runs from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the first two weeks, you will train on a swing shift from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is professional and structured, with established safety procedures and expectations for cleanliness. You will use typical janitorial tools, cleaning supplies, and chemicals while adhering to safety and handling guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Verne, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
