Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic facilities team as a Custodian/Maintenance Worker and play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of all areas, including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning tools and supplies Conduct janitorial duties such as trash removal, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold high standards of cleanliness Carry out floor care activities including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain pristine flooring conditions Assist with custodial responsibilities for both commercial and residential environments, ensuring spaces are tidy and well-maintained Support facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting (residential or commercial), and equipment upkeep to keep the building fully operational Execute industrial cleaning procedures where necessary to handle larger-scale or specialized cleaning projects Maintain cleaning supplies inventory and ensure all equipment is properly stored and maintained Skills Proven experience in custodial or janitorial roles with a strong understanding of cleaning procedures and safety protocols Skilled in floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to enhance surface longevity and appearance Knowledge of commercial cleaning standards and industrial cleaning practices for diverse environments Ability to perform residential painting tasks when needed to support facility upgrades or repairs Strong facilities maintenance skills with an eye for detail and problem-solving abilities Experience with porter duties, including moving supplies or furniture as required for space management Excellent organizational skills to manage supplies efficiently and complete tasks promptly Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred and one year custodial or related work experience.
- Valid Alabama Driver's License.
- Employment contingent upon the results of the following: o Background Check o Drug Screen o
Physical Capacity Examination Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and appropriately with others.
- Ability to read and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use mechanical equipment, such as carpet cleaner, floor scrubber, vacuum, tools, etc.
- Ability to use various chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Daily lifting up to 50 lbs., to load and transport bulk supplies, furniture, fixtures, etc.
- Occasional lifting of over 70 lbs., with assistance.
- Daily standing for periods of several hours while executing various tasks.
- Regular crouching, bending twisting, stooping, kneeling, etc. to facilitate various repairs and maintenance activities.
- Include occasional ladder climbing and crawling under equipment buildings etc.
